LEGAL AID CLINIC AT VILLAGE RANGVASA, DISRTICT INDORE, M.P

The programme started with welcome address by Ms. Asha Verma, Faculty Member, Indore Institute of Law. It was attended by local population of village Rangvasa and law students from the Indore Institute of Law and members of Legal Assistance Forum.

   

Mr. K.S. Bhati, Treasurer, LAF highlighted the achievements and works of Legal Assistance Forum, including the success of the lok adalats organized in Assam. He elucidated the role of advocates in relation to helping the poor and promised all possible help to the villagers. He further advised the future lawyers present among the gathering to have a multifaceted approach in their carriers. He exhorted them to advance all possible help to the poor, to facilitate rather than complicate the justice administration system and to develop innovative and enterprising methods to improve the accessibility of justice to the poor.

   

Ms. Ritu Bhardwaj, Jt.Secretary, LAF explained the rights of the women in the society particularly in the wake of increasing domestic violence. Ms. Bhardwaj said that the recent enactment of the subject is an important mark in the history of the women movement in India. The term 'domestic violence' includes all categories of violence suffered by women at the hand of their family. She assured that LAF will extend helping hand to all those women who are suffering from domestic violence and in the need of legal assistance. Ms. Sneha Kalita, Executive Member, LAF called upon the students to extend free legal aid and organise similar legal aid camps more frequently as a part of their social obligation.

Mr. Jagdish Chandra Parmar, Sarpanch of the Village Panchayat, Mr. Nayar Mukati and Ram Rattan, senior members of the village community also addressed the gathering. The members of the village community stressed on initiating a process through which a permanent framework could be put in place to maintain a link between the locals who need legal aid and the lawyers who intended to advance such aid free of cost. Mr. Bhati, Treasurer, LAF responded by requesting the Indore Institute of Law to take steps and organize free legal aid camps and clinics.

   

The villagers were invited to share their problems with the legal experts and seek free legal advice on any matter. Consequently large number of village locals came up with various problems. The Legal Assistance Forum team including Mr. Bhati, Mr. P.I. Jose, Mrs. Ritu Bhardwaj, Ms. Sneha Kalita, Mr. Jayesh K.U, Mr. Anupam Misra and Mr. Birendra Misra, all practicing advocates in Supreme Court gave necessary advice.
